Charles VII, le "gentil dauphin "
|

Son of "Charles VI Le Fol" and "Isabeau de Bavière", he is disinherited by his parents for the benefit of King of England (his mother will refere to his possible "illegitimacy"!). So, Charles VII won't be self confident and Jeanne d' Arc who'll push him forward. She will drive English Army from Orleans and she made him crown King in Reims. Unfortunately, he won't save her life. However, he'll win "la Guerre de cent ans" and he'll reorganize finances of France. Here, I was inspired by Jean Fouquet. I wanted to show the paradoxical aspect of this king, at the same time delicate and strong, ascetic and jovial fellow, naive and cunning one. |
